After extensive development, testing and auditing by both our core development team and trusted third parties, the Aion desktop wallets (MacOS, Windows & Linux) are now available for download. These wallets will be used to store the AION coin.

The Aion desktop wallets allow you to send, receive and manage your AION coins in a secure fashion with a direct, encrypted connection to a remote Aion node. Accounts are created using best-in-class industry practices and standards. Transaction history is also made available in the Aion desktop wallets to verify transfers. These wallets represent part of the commitment to our community to deliver on our promise of a decentralized Internet, and we look forward to announcing exciting new functionality soon.

The AION coin is the native asset of the Aion blockchain (as outlined in our Whitepaper), which is utilized for critical network functionality and our crypto-economic mechanisms namely: peer-to-peer transactions, utilization of computational resources, rewarding network operators and ultimately a critical security mechanism for inter-chain bridging and our consensus roadmap.

If you are currently holding AION ERC-20 tokens, you will have to swap them to AION coin through the Aion token swap before transferring to your Aion wallet.
